My Unforgettable Birthday !

I should say tht 12oct 2007 was the best birth day or rather a birth day i cant forget ..

some reasons why..

11.45 : My friend calls up and sings a beautiful bday song on phone..

~12: had few more calls from close friends sethu,ab,y,dava to name a few

12.00 : ashwath knocks @ my window... gives a beautiful card takes snaps as i thank him..so called capturing the moment ;)

12.10 : a call from manik..of course a con call from the compsoc (A.K.A Computer Society of Anna University) gang.. nearly 20 of them waiting in the line to wish me and Vishnu(yeah both of us are in compsoc and we share the same birthdays).. with few surprises.. anto and sri participating in the conf from bangalore and mangalore respectively.Went on for another half an hour.A nice conf after a long time.A typical conf is charecterised by frequent "hello",yeah ofcourse every one wants their 15 milliseconds of fame.So for first few mins the whole confernce goes off by hearing the names of people present and the "hello" of each and every one of them. Then comes a chorus "Happy Bday to u..." song from all of them in a totally asynchranous manner, but what so ever it makes you feel very good that you have so many ppl to wish! When there is such a large gathering the best topic to discuss is who is behind whom, which was the major part of the conference. Some of the victim in the conf include prasana & vc ;)

~1.30 : calls were flowing in from so many people. For my surprise,i even had a call form blore from a girl, whom i knew when i did a quiz for ethiraj some time last year!

I was not able to see the messages since i was engaged in attending the calls.Suddenly saw my phone . 19 unread messages..Again people wishing in messages.. and few message telling that the phone is engaged :(

One such interesting msg read.. "You and your fishing phone without intercall facility.Tried calling you so many times.. anyways wish a fishing happy bday ;)"

went to bed after working on the Kurukshetra site for some time..

Morning :

Deepak's call peals loud and long, breaking through the suffused fog of my dreamless sleep.
Again after that..unread messages.. lot of them!

Didnt attend first 2 hrs as usual..messages followed asking of when i am coming to my college..

Went to college..

Class mates waiting with delicious black forest and a green candle which was not lit.We were waiting for some time to light the candle, but the black forest was too tempting which made my friends to urge to me to cut the cake without lighting the candle.. few seconds after i cut the cake, my face was covered by a good deal of cream from the cake.A major part cake was swindeled by uday ;) we ate the remaining cake and i went to wash my face.Came back and hema and vani were standing with a huge landmark cover.Yeah the gift from all my class friends - A gadget type iCarbon back pack with a secret compartment to hide my mobile ;) .Another Odyssey cover just pops up..opened it see three gift wrapped things.I desperately unwrapped the gifts one by one.. a victorinox swiss army knife, a visiting card holder and a lovely sunsign keychain. Thanks to dava ! yeah its not over yet..cards & gifts form deepak, radha & janani did make me feel spl ;)

roamed around coll to get some work done..the wishes by number of ppl whom i saw on road definitely needs a mention here.

4.45: a fully filled hall73 with at least 100 people form my college eagerly waitng for the "know your computer, class on computer hardware".Went and bored those ppl for 1.5 hrs flat with my class. Finally told my poor audience that the next session will be much more interesting because we are supposedly showing them a live demo of the hardware.

it was 6.30.. vb was eagerly waiting to take me to hostel. i knew that there is some evil plans behind that.but he presented to be very innocent and told that people are waiting for me in hostel and something important needs to be discussed.I ve seen the way they celebrate bdays in hostel. They ll literally push the bday person to death by so called birthday bumps*.I felt i was in the position of a decorated and happy goat whose head is usually chopped off without any mercy to please the gods.

Went to fifth block and people were eagerly waiting to take revenge and clear their long time debts :p i was sitting in bed.. every one in kurukshetra team surrounded me and was negotiating if i am going to get my birthday bumps* or to take them to treat :P i didnt have much of choice after receiving some samples form vb and soopi. Then the K team brought a nice pineapple cake(i guess it was!, it took quiet some time to come out of the perplexed state after the sample bday bumps). We went to Hotel Runs and hogged our share of food. The best part was as our super star would say, we "cornered" Raja and put him in "helpless" situation and made him pay a part of the bill ;)

<- SIDELINE: Some Stats ->

70 odd calls from yest night (STD, ISD, PCO all inclusive) :p
150+ orkut wishes
2 cakes
Lots of gifts...

<- End of Sideline ->

Four years @ a college like AU, gave raise to these vital statistics ..

If you think "it-just-cant-get-better-than-this"... read on...

It was around 10.30 in night by the time we finished our dinner. All of us started back to hostel.
I went back, took the laptop and started back home by around 11.

The roads were relatively empty.I was driving the saffire as if it was a ducati, except for the fact that it was not matrix. It was near saidapet on the mount road, when i had to switch lanes to turn left.I switched on my indicator and started moving towards left. An accent fled near my left hand at around 120. Suddenly i felt like i was actually in matrix...every thing started slowing down like how it happens in an action sequel of popular chinese cartoons (Eg. Pokemon). All i could see was my vehicle was sliding on the road with a "krreeeech" as sparks are coming from the parts scratching on the road.I could see the other vehicles wheels at the level of my vision as they pass by.It all lasted for exactly 3 seconds. Then on i realised that the car fellow had actually hit me on my leg and followed by these series of actions.

when i know i was going to fall...i was thinking... of how should i fall to have minimum impact ! suddenly an illusion similar to the one in beautiful mind came in front of me.. :P i made sure my head doesnt touch the ground and pulled in my hands and legs so the impact could be borne by the vehicle.Fortunately it was a saffire... so both my legs were inside the frame of the vehicle.

The car fellow stopped and few passer by gathered around. When i was trying to get up, i felt legs unusually heavy and checked if anything happed to the vehicle. To my surprise, it was barely damaged a was as good as how it was before. Most of the impact was absorbed by the center stand's & side stand's whose frame ll be projecting out(which usually helps you put the stand easily).

I ended up with few scratches on my hand and leg,but the friction on the road burnt a hole on my pant's left leg.My leg also got a good amount of impact because of which it was very heavy and paining. The whole scene reminded me of the stunts performed in action movies.

When i fell down n got up, rather than feeling abt the pain.. i was so proud that i calculated the least impact and atleast here what ever i learnt all these days helped ;)

Then i drove back home and calmly told my mom that i met with a 'small accident' on the way back.[Panic Alert] she woke up my dad and both of them offered a series of lecture which is most likely to get into MIT's OCW in the area of Best Practices in Road Safety.

So my 2007 birthday gets the credit of one of unforgettable birthday ! Thanks to all my friends from class, other depts, hostel, compsoc, K team, friends/people whose name i dont remember but who wished me on the college roads, the dog in front of 4th block and the car driver who made this possible ! :)

Google Earth view of the Bahai Temple Posted by Picasa
The Bahai Temple
The architectural spectacle was designed by Mr. Fariborz Sahba. In fact, I was mesmerized by its exquisite architecture. The outside structure of the house of worship is constructed into three ranks of nine petals each springing from a podium which elevates the building above the surrounding plain. The temple took six years and eight months to be completed and costed Rs. 10 000 000.

The first two ranks curve inward, embracing the inner dome; the third layer curves outward to form canopies over the nine entrances. The petals, constructed of reinforced white concrete cast in place, are clad in white marble panels, performed to surface profiles and patterns related to the geometry.

You know what! these nine pools surrounding the building, suggest that they are green leaves of the lotus flower. The structure has no pillars inside for support!Mr. Sabha, the designer, was presented the award for excellence in religious art and architecture by the US-based Institute of Structural Engineers in the UK, for producing a building that was so emulating in the form of a flower and so striking in its visual impact. Posted by Picasa
